Meet our 2023 Cunard Stars of the Year!

Our Cunard fleet recognition programme recognises and rewards our colleagues who deliver exceptional White Star Service to our guests, as well as those who demonstrate excellent examples of supporting our Culture Essentials.  

A huge thank you to all those who nominated a Cunard colleague on board for an award last year!  

We’re excited to announce the overall Stars of the year for 2023 who have both won a two-week voyage of their choice for themselves and a partner, or a cash alternative of US $1,250.00, a printed certificate and pin, and ‘star for a day’ treatment onboard! Our winners are now both working on board Queen Anne and were also invited to attend her naming ceremony in Liverpool as part of their prize!  

Congratulations to Cunard Culture Essentials Star of the Year: Dennis Silang, Deck Petty Officer, who was nominated while on Queen Victoria.

Dennis’ winning nomination: “Dennis was concerned that his fellow crew members could be injured during the manual operation of the winch handle on the liferaft davits. Instead of just reporting this, he came up with the idea of involving other departments to improve the process and make it safer. With energy & enthusiasm, he took ownership of the task, communicated his ideas with the technical team and empowered junior members of the team to help deliver the solution.”  

Congratulations to Cunard White Star Service Star of the Year: Armando Santos, Electrical Technician, who was nominated while on Queen Elizabeth.  

Armando’s winning nomination: “Whilst cleaning our azipod sliprings, Armando took time to examine all the high voltage cables for the motor supply. During this inspection, he found one of the main motor supply cables had disconnected. The pride and vigilance in which he conducted this inspection and shared his knowledge and expertise, prevented a near miss, and is certainly award-worthy!”
