Claudia Carrozzi, Cunard’s Fleet Beverage Development Specialist (and mixologist extraordinaire), has been appointed as the new President of the UK Bartenders Guild (UKBG).
Claudia has served the world’s oldest surviving bar guild since 2013; and has this week been appointed as its first female President in its 87-year history – with a focus to oversee the digital transformation of the Guild.
Her vision is to see the UKBG become an online educator, while stepping up face-to-face events, giving brands and organisations of all shapes better opportunities to engage with bar operators.
In addition, Claudia is to expand the UKBG’s leadership team to provide more representation to workers, venues and events outside of London and ensure the Guild becomes less London-centric.
On her new role, Claudia said:
My goal is to align the Guild to serve its original purposes, but in a context that is relevant to solving the problems we face today as an industry – and that means being a little bit revolutionary.
“In the midst of the pandemic, we still have a need to be a trusted hub for the bartending community; to deliver efficient, accessible education and training; support our people to stay on top of their physical and mental health; setting up professional standards in all aspects of the industry, and being another voice of representation for the profession.
In her dual Cunard and UKBG role, and in preparation for our return to service, Claudia will be instrumental in continuing to develop and deliver Cunard’s signature on board beverage proposition, creating unforgettable holiday happiness for our Guests.
The United Kingdom Bartenders’ Guild was founded in 1933 by a small committee of bartenders. Since then it has grown into a national organization divided into regional areas, and with a global network of branches including a maritime division representing our members at sea. The UKBG is also a founder member of The International Bartenders Association.
